ZTE is to launch its Nubia Z17 flagship tonight in Beijing but we are getting our first look at the device a little earlier, courtesy the promotional posters featuring the brand ambassador, Cristiano Ronaldo. This is not the first time the flamboyant footballer has been spotted on promotional content for Nubia smartphones though. Only earlier this year he had posted images of himself endorsing the ZTE Nubia Z17 Mini.
The upcoming ZTE flagship is sure to grab some attention with its classy design. Getting onto the recent trend of melding aluminium and glass, the Nubia Z17 chassis is likely to be made of two curved glass pieces framing a metal frame. From the front, the device has minimal side bezels but features a prominent chin and forehead below and above the display. The chin also houses the now iconic circular-red capacitive home button.
But ZTE has not forgotten about the internal hardware, the Nubia Z17 is expected to carry a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC and Adreno 540 GPU. This is coupled with 4 GB/6 GB of RAM and 64 GB/128 GB of internal storage. There are also rumours of an 8 GB variant floating around but nothing has been officially revealed. The handset has a 5.5-inch full-HD (1080 x1920) resolution display which is clad under a 2.5D curved glass panel. ZTE has outfitted the handset with dual cameras on the back and below the camera module is the fingerprint scanner. Powering all this hardware is a 3100mAh battery unit with support for Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0. On the OS front, the handset runs on the company’s proprietary Nubia UI which is based on Android v.7.1.1, Nougat.

Apart from the usual design cues, it seems that ZTE has also made the handset IP 67 compliant and for hardware interconnectivity and charging purposes the handset features a USB Type-C port.
