ZTE Nubia Z17 Lite

Last month, Nubia released the Nubia Z17 with the Snapdragon 835 and 8GB of RAM. Now, it looks like the company is working on a watered down version of the device. The ZTE Nubia Z17 Lite has been spotted paying a visit to the Geekbench listings.

The smartphone was seen with the model number Nubia NX591J. The Geekbench listing reveals that the Smartphone will be powered by the Snapdragon 617 SoC, an Octa-core CPU clocked in at 1.4 GHz. This will be backed up by a whooping 6GB of RAM. The Nubia Z17 will run on Android 7.1.1 Nougat. The 3.5mm headphone jack might make a return after being dropped from the ZTE Nubia Z17.

As for optics, the budget offering is expected to sport a single rear camera. For those who do not remember, the ZTE Nubia Z17 came with a dual camera setup consisting of a 23MP and a 12MP sensor.

Talking about the basic connectivity options, the smartphone supports 4G VOLTE, dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth and NFC.

Releasing toned down versions of flagship smartphones is starting to become a trend lately. LG recently launched the LQ Q6, a miniature version of the LG G6. Rumours also surfaced about the Samsung Galaxy S8 mini, but it was later dismissed.

With budget smartphones growing more powerful with premium build quality, it will be interesting to see how the the premium mid-range market shapes up in the upcoming years.
