Yu Televentures, a Micromax subsidiary today launched the Yu Yureka Black smartphone. The new handset will be exclusive to Flipkart and goes on sale from midnight, June 6. Due to its pricing and position, it will face stiff competition in the sub-₹10,000 price segment from brands like Xiaomi, Coolpad and Lenovo.
The Yureka Black handset will feature an all-metal chassis with rounded corners which should definitely give it a premium feel. The front of the smartphone is dominated by the 5-inch full-HD (1080 x1920) IPS-panel based display. Below the display is a capacitive home button that houses a fingerprint scanner. The front of the phone and the display are both clad under a layer of Corning’s Gorilla Glass 3 to prevent scratching.
Internally the device packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 SoC coupled with 4 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage which can be expanded with a microSD card (up to 64 GB). At the rear, the Yureka Black features a SONY IMX 258 13-megapixel sensor with support for HDR and a dual-LED flash. Up front, the handset has an 8-megapixel sensor for selfies and video calling coupled with a flash. Powering all this hardware is a 3000mAh non-removable battery. The smartphone is running on Android v.6.0, Marshmallow under a proprietary Micromax UI skin.
The handset is dual-SIM and supports 4G networks with VoLTE capability, features Bluetooth, WiFi and GPS as well. For hardware interconnectivity and recharging capability, Micromax has provisioned the Yureka Black with a microUSB port. Being a budget smartphone, the device retains the 3.5mm audio jack.
The handset as mentioned earlier is exclusive to Flipkart and will retail for ₹8,999 and would be available in Chrome Black and Matte Black colour options. Interested parties can even register themselves here for the latest updates on the handset.
