The Redmi 4A was launched in March. It’s not even three months since and Redmi is all set to launch another smartphone in India. While the company hasn’t specified what smartphone it is going to bring to the country, the Redmi 4 and the Redmi 4 Prime are expected to be launched.
Xiaomi has tweeted saying that it will soon launch a new Redmi smartphone in India. The tweet does not contain any information about the device name and the date of launch. The tweet shows an image which has the night skyline in the background with the tagline “Power in your hands”.
Further, VP Manu, Xiaomi India’s VP had tweeted that this would be the second biggest announcement this month. The first was the launch of the Mi Home store launch in Bengaluru. This was Xiaomi’s first store in India.
Xiaomi announced the successor to the Redmi 3s and the Redmi 3s Prime in March. The Redmi 4 and Redmi 4 Prime were announced in China in November 2016 and it makes sense that they bring it to India. It is also worthy to note that the Redmi 4A which was recently launched in India is only available through flash sales at the moment.
The Redmi 4 sports a 5-inch HD(720p) display. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 SoC coupled with 2GB of RAM. It is fuelled by a massive 4100mAh battery and has 16GB of internal storage.
As for optics, the smartphone sports a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front facing camera.
The Redmi 4 Prime on the other hand sports a 5-inch full HD display(1080p) and is powered by the octa-core Snapdragon 625 SoC coupled with 3GB of Ram and 32GB of internal storage. Other specs match with that of the Redmi 4.
The Redmi 4 is priced at CNY 699 (approx. Rs. 6,900) and the Redmi 4 Prime at CNY 899 (approx Rs. 8,900).
