According to the reports, Xiaomi is preparing to announce its upcoming smartphone, Xiaomi Redmi Pro 2 before the flagship Mi 6. As per the earlier reports, we know that Xiaomi is all set to announce its next flagship, Xiaomi Mi 6 next month but we now have reports that Xiaomi will launch the Xiaomi Redmi Pro 2 before its next flagship phone.

According to Gizmochina, the launch may happen as early as this month, before the launch of Mi 6, the next flagship by the Chinese smartphone maker. There is no official statement by Xiaomi about the launch but we have known that the launch of Xiaomi Redmi Pro 2 will be limited to China as of now.

As per the leaked specifications, the smartphone will come with a brushed metal finish at the back and skip the dual-camera for a single lens with improved specs. It will feature a new sensor, the 12MP Sony IMX 362. This is a 1/2.55” sensor with large 1.4µm pixels and Dual Pixel autofocus. On paper it should be better than the 1µm pixels that are on the Mi Note and Mi Mix. The smartphone is expected to sport a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor but there is a possibility that the company maybe working on MediaTek Helio P25.

The phone also includes a larger 4,500mAh battery which is up from 4,050mAh unit. Expected RAM variants include one with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage which could cost CNY 1,800 (Rs 18,000 approx). The other one would be a 4GB RAM and 64GB storage which would be the base version priced at CNY 1,600 (Rs 16,000 approx).

As per the specifications and pricing of the phone, the phone is set to compete with the Moto G5 Plus which falls under this same price range and has some similar specifications. There are no reports for the Indian launch as of now. Stay tuned to know more.
