The camera module and fingerprint scanner Mi Max 2

We are at the eve of the Mi Max 2’s launch on the 25th of April and as is wont these days, the leaks keep coming. We had originally reported that Xiaomi had managed to place a ~5000mAh battery in roughly the same chassis size as that of the original Mi Max which featured a 4850mAh battery. Now it seems that the company has not just given users a 150mAh increment but around 500mAh more with a 5349mAh battery.

This was leaked in a Weibo post by Kumamoto who stated that the Mi Max 2’s battery will be supplied by Yan Wanda and will be rated at 5349mAh. The post also states that the Mi Max 2 is indeed launching with the Snapdragon 626 SoC at its heart. With a power efficient chip and the gargantuan battery, we can confidently state that the Mi Max 2 will have no problem topping the battery performance charts.

The Mi Max 2 is supposedly launching with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 626 SoC coupled with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage. It retains the 6.44-inch full-HD (1080 x1920) display of its predecessor and the 5-megapixel selfie shooter up front. The rear camera is a 12-megapixel SONY IMX378 sensor that was present on the Mi 5S. It is speculated that just like the original Mi Max, Xiaomi will release a Prime variant of the phablet as well which would come equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC coupled with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage. Both devices will have the mammoth 5349mAh battery as well and would be rocking the MIUI skin based on Android v.7.1.1, Nougat.
