The Xiaomi Mi 6 will be officially launched tomorrow by the company at an event in Beijing University. Now just over 12 hours from the launch, new images of the device have leaked from a photoshoot. Apart from these images, a new blue colour variant has been sighted in various promotional material for the Mi 6.
The leaked photoshoot images are courtesy mydrivers.com which show a silver coloured Mi 6 sporting a dual camera set-up on the rear. Another photo of the smartphone in its retail box shows the Blue variant of the same. From these images we can make out a lot of leaked details of the Mi 6, including its curved 2.5D display, dual-camera set-up on the rear and the fingerprint scanner up-front. This makes the Xiaomi device one of the few smartphones to retain the scanner in the front on the chin bezel instead of moving it back and opting for a super high screen-to-body-ratio. This has meant that the Mi 6 still has quite large forehead and chin bezels when compared to the Samsung Galaxy S8 series or the LG G6.
Most of the other aspects of the Xiaomi Mi 6 and 6+ have already been leaked and confirmed much ahead of its announcement. They will be the first smartphones after Samsung’s Galaxy S8 series to feature the Snapdragon 835 SoC coupled with the Adreno 540 GPU. The smartphones will feature 4 GB or 6 GB of RAM along with a minimum of 64 GB of internal storage. The dual camera set-up is most likely powered by SONY’s IMX378 sensor which was featured on the older Xiaomi Mi 5s. The Mi 6 and Mi 6+ would be running MIUI based on Android, v.7.1.1., Nougat. Leaked posters have confirmed as much about the devices,
All this hardware comes at a much lower price-tag than its flagship competition from Samsung, LG, HTC and SONY with prices starting as low as ¥2,199 (~$320) for the cheapest variant of the device.
It is rumoured that Xiaomi will start taking pre-orders for the device on the 20th of April and orders will start shipping out from the 27th.
