It was only yesterday that we reported that Xiaomi plans to launch its latest Mi 5X smartphone on 26 July alongside MIUI 9. We had to be initially content with a couple of leaked images of the handset which gave us a limited glimpse of it. Today though the company has remedied the situation by showing the device on its website.
The new set of images show that the Xiaomi Mi 5X will be debuting in a range of colour options, the ones seen are; Rose Gold, Gold and Black. The handset showcases averagely thin side bezels while featuring a rather prominent chin and forehead. The top bezel houses the selfie camera and the earpiece while the bottom bezel houses the capacitive navigation keys.
As stated earlier, the Xiaomi Mi 5X is most likely following the design aesthetic of an all-metal unibody design. Up front, the device is dominated by the 5.5-inch full-HD (1080 x1920) display. Flip the phone over and you can notice the contoured signal antenna at the top and bottom edges. In the top-left corner, the dual camera module is housed in a design very reminiscent of the Apple iPhone 7 flanked by the dual-LED CCT flash. Apart from this the only notable feature at the rear of the handset is the fingerprint scanner. The bottom of the phone features a speaker grill on the right, a USB Type-C connector on the top and a 3.5mm audio jack on the left flank. The volume rocker and power button are on the right flank of the chassis.
The Xiaomi Mi 5X features the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC at its heart coupled with 4GB of RAM and an unspecified amount of internal storage. The smartphone will be launching with a price tag of Yuan 1,999 (~$295). If you are in China and interested in picking up the handset you can register for it and currently, over 2,00,000 people have registered themselves.
