Xiaomi Mi 5X

Xiaomi Vice-President, Manu Kumar Jain recently took to Twitter to tease us about an upcoming Xiaomi dual-camera smartphone releasing in India, next month.

Currently, the Chinese company has launched four smartphones with dual cameras, the Redmi Pro, the Mi 5S Plus, the flagship Mi 6 and the Mi 5X. According to this tweet, one of these smartphones would be launched in India next month.

Out of the four, it is the Mi 5X which is most likely to release in India considering the Redmi Pro is no longer in production, the Mi 5S is an older product and the company has spoken that it would not be launching the Mi 6 in India. This leaves the newly launched Mi 5X as the most likely option, this would be fortuitous since the smartphone is relatively new and comes with the same optical hardware as the flagship Mi 6.

If this is indeed the case, it is likely that the launch will herald the international release of MIUI 9. The Mi 5X is a premium mid-range smartphone by Xioami that released last month along side the latest iteration of MIUI, v.9.0. The smartphone comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal memory with no expansion capability. Its launch price in China was ~Rs 14,300 so we can expect it to carry a similar price tag here.
