VIVO is one of the Chinese smartphone OEM’s that had expanded to India post 2014 in a bid to diversify its market and revenue stream away China, in that regard the company has succeeded as it has managed to carve a niche for its product in the market. Recently it had launched the VIVO V5 Plus IPL Edition in an all-new Black colour and IPL centric livery. The device was to celebrate the brands title-sponsor status of the IPL T20 tournament and to commemorate its decennial anniversary. Now the company is launching the V5s selfie-focused smartphone on April 27th as reported over at Phone Radar with a campaign hashtag of capturing the #PerfectSelfie.
The VIVO V5s will be powered by a a MediaTek MT6750 SoC coupled with a Mali T860MP2 GPU core, combined with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage which can be expanded via a microSD slot (up-to 128 GB). The device will be outfitted with a 5.5-inch HD (720 x1280) IPS panel clad under Corning Gorilla Glass with a 2.5D curve for a premium feel. To power all this hardware, VIVO has provided the smartphone with a 3000mAh Li-Ion battery. On the software front it is running on VIVO’s proprietary FunTouch OS 2.6 which is based on Android, v.6.0, Marshmallow.
The main draw of the VIVO V5s is the selfie camera, which is a 20-megapixel SONY IMX376 sensor with an f/2.0 aperture and LED flash. The rear camera is a 13-megapixel sensor with support for PDAF, an f/2.2 aperture and LED flash. The chassis of the V5s is a metal unibody which merges with the curved glass on top of the display up-front. For connectivity the device supports 4G LTE, WiFi and Bluetooth of unspecified standards. The smartphone also features a micro-USB port for charging purposes and a 3.5mm audio jack. It will be available only in a matte-black colour option for ₹18,990.
