If you follow recent SONY smartphone developments, it would have occurred to you that the Xperia XZ1 and XZ1 Compact generally got leaked close together. Yesterday we had gotten press renders of the former via Slashleaks and today it is latter’s turn.
The SONY Xperia XZ1 Compact, also known as the G8441 had originally surfaced a few months earlier on a Polish e-retail site, then on AnTuTu benchmarks. More recently their prices were revealed by the noted tipster @rquandt who is also responsible for these leaked press renders. From the leaked renders we can note that the handset will retain the IP xx rating of previous SONY flagship along with old school charms like the 3.5mm audio jack. The leaked press renders are in the Twilight Pink finish.
Following in the tradition of its predecessors the SONY Xperia XZ1 Compact carries the same hardware as the full-sized flagship of its times coupled with a smaller HD only display coupled to a massive battery in the short and stubby battery. The XZ1 Compact is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC complemented by 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal memory which is expandable via a microSD slot. We still do not know the exact dimensions of the display but it is an HD (720 x1280) IPS panel. From the press renders, we can now correlate the cameras, with an 8-megapixel shooter at the rear and a similar if not same sensor up front for selfies and video conferencing.

The AnTuTu listing also had the G8441 running Android v.8.x, Oreo. If SONY manages to reveal the handset at IFA and ship it before the end of the month will make it the first smartphone to ship with the latest flavour of Android out of the box.
