We expected Samsung to show off two smart watches at its IFA 2017 event and here we are. We also had a good idea of what Samsung had in store but nothing beats watching the actual product itself. The Korean OEM has showcased the two models labeled “Gear Sport” and “Gear Fit 2 Pro”. We take a look at what these new Samsung toys bring to the table. Samsung also debuted the second gen IconX (2018) wireless headsets at the same event.
Samsung Gear Fit 2 Pro
Initially leaked in some images, the Gear Fit 2 Pro was predicted to be a fitness-centric band expanding the Gear Fit lineup. The Gear Fit 2 Pro, as the name says adds something more to the Gear Fit 2 from 2016. The Gear Fit 2 Pro comes with a 1.5-inch S-AMOLED curved display that nicely wraps around the wrist and runs Tizen OS. It has 50 m of water proofing and comes with a 200 mAh battery. Buyers can opt for a black or a red color when the band is available.
The pre-orders are to begin from today(August 31) itself with a price tag of $199. The latest fitness band can be bought from Samsung.com or Amazon, Best Buy, B&H and Macy’s.
Samsung Gear Sport
The Gear Sport lies somewhere between the smartwatch and fitness band territory. The 1.2-inch compact wearable comes with 1GHz dual-core processor, 768 MB of RAM, 4 GB of ROM, Bluetooth connectivity, heart rate monitor, GPS, and Tizen OS.
The new metal body smartwatch comes with a military grade shock-proof body as well as water proofing up to 50 m. The 1.2-inch S-AMOLED screen has 360 x 360 resolution. The device features a dedicated app for swimmers called Speedo. It has 20 mm strap and will be available in black and blue shades. However, no details regarding the pricing or whereabouts are known as of yet.
Gear IconX (2018)
The new pair of headphones come with a better battery life of 6 hours. The Bluetooth enabled headsets also have 4 GB internal storage and come with a case that serves as a power bank apart from being a charger. It also comes with Bixby like its previous version. Again, details for prices and availability is not announced yet, but buyers can expect black gray and pink color options when they order it.
