Joining the latest 360-degree media technology, Ricoh India has launched its RICOH THETA S spherical camera, which is the newest model in the RICO THETA lineup of spherical cameras that enables the users to shoot 360-degree images and videos.

The spherical camera by Ricoh features an extra-high resolution, fully spherical photos and videos in a single shot, a live preview function along with greater compatibility with social media platforms.

The company revealed that the device will be available for sale with a price tag of Rs. 39,995, starting from December. In addition, it is currently available for pre-orders with a 20 percent of advance payment i.e. Rs. 7,199 at the official web portal.

It is a lightweight portable camera, whose application program interface (API) is based on Google-supported Open Spherical Camera API for compatibility with Google’s services. And allows the users to capture high-resolution spherical images of up to nearly 14 megapixels, thanks to its enlarged image sensor, fast and bigger aperture F2.0 lenses for more light through proprietary ultra-small twin-lens folded optical system.

Users can share the captured images to their friends by simply uploading them to, which enables to share via Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr, and posted to Google Maps, Google+ and YouTube 360°Channel.

The RICOH THETA S is manufactured to shoot spherical video in full HD resolution i.e. 1920 x 1080 pixels at a frame rate of 30fps with a maximum recording time of 25 minutes. The camera body flaunts a sure-grip black rubber coating and handy face-mounted LED mode indicator. It also offers a storage of up to 8GB to store the spherical images and videos, also, users can transfer them to their PCs or laptops by using the microUSB connectivity.
