Reliance Jio Offer about to end, heres what you need to do

New reports have emerged stating that Reliance Jio wants to launch an ultra-affordable Android smartphone. The company has reportedly stopped manufacturing of the Jio Phone. The report from Factor Daily further elaborates that Jio is in talks with Google to discuss royalty matters.

The talk of a new Android phone brings a question mark over the current 4G phone that was publicised heavily. The “India Ka Smartphone” has amassed 60 lakh pre-orders and Jio is yet to deliver the goods. We have yet to see whether Jio will continue both phones side by side or altogether scrap the JioPhone once orders are completed. Also, there is nothing known regarding price and availability of the alleged smartphone.

JioPhone runs on Kai-OS, a relatively unknown interface that comes with a limited suite of apps like Facebook and YouTube. But it is still not as desirable as Android. This is what a Jio executive has been quoted as saying by the publication, “There are not enough apps compatible with KaiOS but people are working on developing special versions for the JioPhone.”

Reliance Jio has yet to confirm any of the info in this report. If true, the move would be to counter the latest Airtel tie-up with Karbonn that brought Airtel’s ‘Mera Pehla 4G Smartphone’. The phone is effectively priced Rs 1,399 and would run Android. Elsewhere, Vodafone teamed up with Micromax to bring a 4G Bharat 2 Ultra handset priced Rs 999. Reliance Jio already has its LYF series of Android smartphones but those handsets would not fit the ultra-affordable bill that comes below Rs 3,000.
