Xioami Redmi Note 5A retail boxes

Today a flurry of information has been leaked regarding the Redmi Note 5A, earlier in the day, an image of the phablet’s retail boxes appeared courtesy @ITHome. Now, a few hours later a Chinese tipster @mmddj_china revealed specifications of the handset originally posted on Weibo.

The leak states that the phablet would be powered by the venerable Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chipset coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal memory. The leak further states that the device would be the first of the Redmi Note series to come with a dual-camera setup. The sensors would be provided by OmniVision, one of which is expected to be an OV12A10 wide-angle sensor and an OV13880. The selfie camera is the SSKK5E8 sensor from Samsung. The Redmi Note 5A would feature a 5.5-inch full-HD (1080 x1920) display. The fingerprint scanner is at the back of the device just like all the other Redmi Note range. It is not specified what size battery would be onboard the Redmi Note 5A or what version of Android it would be running under the proprietary MIUI interface.

Being a low-end sibling to the Redmi Note 5, the smartphone would arrive in a relatively cheaper polycarbonate chassis and. The full-fledged Redmi Note 5 is also expected to come in with similar hardware but in a more premium metal chassis and more importantly a faster Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 chipset coupled with a 3790mAh battery.
