We are just over a week away from OPPO announcing the R11 series handsets and all through the while, the internet has been providing us with a steady drip feed of data pertaining to the new smartphone. We saw live shots, promotional posters getting leaked, OPPO’s own video on point. And now as we have entered the final lap towards the launch, the smartphone has ended up on Geekbench.
The specifications for the smartphone are as follows, Qualcomm’s latest mid-range SoC, the Snapdragon 660 is at the heart coupled with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage. The front of the handset is dominated by a 5.5-inch full-HD (1080 x1920) AMOLED panel based display. OPPO has provisioned the handset with a 16-megapixel and 20-megapixel dual camera setup for the back while selfies are handled by a 20-megapixel sensor up front. Powering all this hardware is a non-removable 2900mAh battery. On the OS front the R11 boasts of a custom skinned variant of Android v.7.1.1, Nougat.
The handset listed as the OPPO OPPO R11 in the benchmarks (above) posts scores of 1588 points and 5780 points in single-core and multi-core tests. This firmly establishes the credentials of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC as being a paradigm shift in premium mid-range segment performance. Going forward we can expect more handsets packing the Snapdragon 660 SoC keeping the pace with yesteryears flagships.
The company is expected to launch a phablet variant of the OPPO R11 dubbed the OPPO R11 Plus, with a larger 6.0-inch full-HD AMOLED panel, with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage. It shares the same SoC, camera setup and OS as its younger sibling with a slightly larger ~3400mAh battery unit thanks to the taller body. Both handsets have a metal unibody frame based design.
