Google had released the Google Assistant, a voice based virtual assistant to help users get more out of their devices using voice commands. It was the trump card for their premium Pixel smartphone but overtime the other OEM’s have started rolling it out to their flagships via OTA updates for even Marshmallow devices. OnePlus joins this growing list with a recent update for their OnePlus 3 devices.

Google Assistant is a homogeneous version of Google’s excellent Google Now voice based search system with quality of life features integrated like, controlling other interconnected smart devices, voice based shopping, key answers for queries and much more.

Earlier the only way to access the voice assistant was via the Google Allo application or a rooted device but OEM’s have the choice of pushing it to individual devices via an OTA update to their Google Play Services. OnePlus 3 users should be receiving the update as of this articles publication. The company has also released several screenshots showcasing the feature in action on their device.
