A Korean website has leaked a few details about OnePlus’ next flagship. As previous rumours have indicated, OnePlus is going to call its next flagship as the OnePlus 5, dropping the number 4 most probably because Chinese consider the number 4 to be unlucky.
The rumour claims that OnePlus is going to ditch the Metal Unibody design used on the OnePlus 3T for an all glass design which may include a ceramic backing like the Xiaomi Mi Mix. It is also expected to feature a dual edge display, much like the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge. This change in material may mean that we are finally getting wireless charging on the OnePlus flagship.
As for specifications, the OnePlus 5 is expected to come with a Snapdragon 835 chipset from Qualcomm. The Snapdragon 835 is Qualcomm’s best SoC today. However if OnePlus chooses to launch the OnePlus 5 earlier than the Samsung Galaxy S8, we might see a Snapdragon 821 powering the device, much like the recently launched LG G6. Samsung has pretty much locked up the initial batch of Snapdragon 835’s and OnePlus has to wait a while to get hold of the latest and greatest from Qualcomm.
The OnePlus 5 is rumoured to feature a 23 Megapixel camera which is better than its predecessor and a 16 Megapixel camera which is on par with the OnePlus 3T.
The smartphone is expected to pack a massive 4000mAh battery with its Dash Charge Technology. Dash Charge is the best fast charging technology found on any smartphone today.
OnePlus has always produced flagship smartphones at almost half the price of other flagships. Lets just hope that that’s not changing any time soon.
