Nubia, the sub-brand of ZTE is preparing to announce a smartphone on March 21 in an event to be held in China. This will be the first time that any smartphone under the Nubia brand will come with a dual-camera setup. The company has already started to send out invites to the press for its event in China.
Nubia Z17 mini will be the successor to the last year’s Z11. The company is known for skipping numbers as far as its phone’s names are concerned with launching the Z11 after the Z9 and now the Z17 mini from Z11.
As far as leaks of this phone’s pricing and specifications are concerned, the phone is expected to come with 5.2-inch 1080p touchscreen, a 13 MP + 13 MP dual rear camera setup (with two Sony IMX258 sensors), a 16 MP front-facing camera for selfies, 64GB of storage, a USB Type-C port, and a 3,000 mAh battery with support for Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0.
The phone is expected to be powered by two different chipsets, Snapdragon 652 and 653. The variant which comes with the Snapdragon 652 will be paired with 4GB of RAM, another will have the combination of Snapdragon 653 and 6GB of memory.
The phone is expected to be priced around CNY 1,899(approx. 19,000) for the SD652/4GB versions but no pricing details have been known for the SD653/6GB variant. According to a source, the event is scheduled to take place at Shekou district near Shenzhen, China.
Also worth noting is that a weibo user has mentioned that Nubia’s upcoming flagship smartphone will come with Snapdragon 835 chipset but we can safely assume that it will be for the Z17.
Nubia Z17 mini is expected in two colour variants: Black and Gold. However rumors suggest that there will be one more variant of the Z17 mini with Blue colour coming with a combination of SD635 and 4GB of RAM. We haven’t got details about the phone’s launch in India yet but we will keep you updated as we know more. Stay tuned.
