Last year, Nextbin had launched the Nextbit Robin as being a very different phone from its competitors in the way that every flagship smartphone around would come with huge storage, massive battery or giant specifications but Nextbit Robin had neither of them. The Nextbit Robin being a very basic device with decent specs but its killer feature at launch was its cloud-based storage approach.
The device moves your unused apps to the cloud to save space on your device and brings them back from the cloud when needed. The phone also backs up your APK data to its cloud, but leaves your personal information on the device itself for privacy reasons. The phone has also enjoyed a large community of developers but the custom ROMs cannot give the phone its most compelling feature, the cloud storage. Nextbit Robin was running on Android Marshmallow and its Nougat update was still in the beta stages. However, this will change as the company has announced an update to the phone. Nextbit is now finally rolling out the Android 7.0 Nougat update to the Nextbit Robin.
The current OTA bears the build number 88 and comes with the January security patch. The update includes all Nougat features including Multi-Window support, revamped Quick Settings, miscellaneous optimizations and more.
The Nextbit Robin is a 5.2-inch phone housing Snapdragon 808 processor with 32GB of onboard storage and 3GB of RAM. The phone comes with a 13MP rear camera complemented by its 5MP front shooter. The Robin is juiced by a 2680mAH battery and is available in two color variants — Mint on White and Midnight Black. Stay tuned as we know more.
