Motorola has officially announced the list of devices getting the Android Oreo update. While most expected devices make the list, some surprising omissions can be found too. It is worthy to note that Moto has released several devices during the past year.
The most notable omission from the list is the very popular Moto G4 series. The Moto G4, Moto G4 Plus and the Moto G4 Play will not be receiving the Android 8.0 update. The smartphones were released only in 2016 and it is disappointing to know that Nougat will be their last major Android update.
All the members of the Moto Z series are mentioned while the carrier names are mentioned explicitly. This is due to the fact that even though Moto develops the update, it is the carriers that have to push it out to the customers.
Another smartphone missing is the Moto X4. To recollect, it is the first Android One smartphone to launch in the U.S and is not available to purchase as of now.
Given below is the complete list of Motorola smartphones receiving Android Oreo:
- Moto Z2 Force – AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, and Verizon
- Moto Z2 Play – Verizon, unlocked
- Moto Z Force – Verizon
- Moto Z – Verizon, unlocked
- Moto Z Play – Verizon, unlocked
- Moto G5S Plus – unlocked
- Moto G5 Plus – unlocked
- Moto G5 – unlocked
