Motorola has been having a hard time keeping its plans for the year under wraps. After the major leak of a presentation plotting the upcoming releases for the year, followed by leaks of the MOTO G5S family we return to the MOTO Z2 series, specifically the Z2 Play, which got high-resolution images of itself leaked today.

The MOTO Z2 Play would be succeeding the MOTO Z Play of last year, as a budget option for users looking for a handset with a premium feel at a relatively modest price-point. Leaked by noted tipster @rquandt in a tweet, the images (below) show the device in three different colour schemes,

The colour variants identified are, White fascia/Gold back, Black fascia/Grey back and White fascia/Silver back. Apart from all this, the MOTO Z2 Play has also had its internal hardware leaked earlier. Packing a Qualcomm Snapdragon 626 coupled with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage, the device does not see a major silicon refresh from its predecessor. Unfortunately on the battery front, in a bid to further slim down the handset, Motorola opted to reduce the battery to a 3000mAh unit which is a definite downgrade to the MOTO Z Play’s 3510mAh battery. This was verified by Lenovo when they were responding to a customer’s query on Twitter. The handset is expected to release with a close to stock build of Android v.7.1.1, Nougat running on all this hardware.

Aside from the leaked images, another tweet (above) in the same tweet-thread alleged that the MOTO Z2 Play might be revealed on June 1. As always the handset will most likely be released in the upcoming markets such as Latin America, South-East Asia prior to its eventual launch in other markets like the EU, the U.K., and the U.S.
