Motorola had officially announced the MOTO G5S and MOTO G5S Plus handsets earlier this month and now the latter is finally coming to India. The G5S Plus will be an Amazon India exclusive. According to the Amazon landing page, the smartphone will launch on the 29th of August. The smartphone was announced in Europe for €299 (~Rs 22,700), it is likely that it would be slightly cheaper here though.
The page does not give us any more details with regards to the availability or pricing of the smartphone. The MOTO G5S Plus is a “Special” Edition variant of the regular MOTO G5 Plus smartphone. It features the same core components as the regular MOTO G5 Plus, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC coupled with 3GB /4GB of RAM and 32GB /64GB of internal memory which is expandable via a microSD card.
The differences between the regular G5 Plus and the G5S Plus are in the display and camera department. In the display, the latter gets a bumped up 5.5-inch full-HD (1080 x1920) IPS panel while the former is limited to a 5.2-inch full-HD panel. The G5S Plus also gets a dual camera solution, the first for a Motorola handset at that price range; The camera module is composed of dual 13-megapixel sensors. The selfie camera also gets a bump up to an 8-megapixel sensor from the regular 5-megapixel unit available on older G series handsets. Out of the box, the smartphone comes with Android v.7.1, Nougat. For hardware interconnectivity, the MOTO G5S Plus retains the 3.5mm jack and microUSB port from its predecessor which is a shame.
We do not have any confirmation regarding the launch of the MOTO G5S Plus’ smaller stablemate, the MOTO G5S. The handset should be available in the Lunar Grey and Lush Gold finish that it was announced in.
