Android Oreo is on the cards of many flagships like Galaxy S8, OnePlus 5T, Nokia 8 as we reach the end of 2017. Now the good news is that Xiaomi is stepping up its efforts for Android Oreo as well. Recently, MIUI officials announced Oreo closed beta for the Mi 6, now the bezel-less Mi Mix 2 is in for the same treat.
The MIUI forum today announced users can participate in the new beta for the Mi MIx 2 Oreo program. The message read, “Experience a different MIUI9.”
It goes without saying that this is a beta kick off, so there’s bound to be bugs in the updates. So, if you’re not used to such updates, you should stay away from it. In terms of new features, we’ve got limited info right now. Android 8.0 focuses on improving battery life, background app restrictions, and improving UI zippiness. Also, in terms of appearance, the multi-tasking preview shows rounded app cards instead of sharp rectangles.
One particular bug has been reported in the Mi 6 Oreo beta update. That is fingerprint payment function which seems to be broken.
This new beta round should be for the Chinese ROM, development for the international ROM hasn’t yet started, but it should follow soon.
