Micromax silently listed a new smartphone “Selfie 2” on its website and made it Official. While complete specifications are now listed on the official website, price and availability are not yet released. The highlight of the smartphone is its 8-megapixel front camera with selfie flash. Micromax is trying hard to stay in competition with other popular brands. Previously, it launched Yu Yureka Black against the Xiaomi Redmi 4. Now this time, it is going head to head against Moto E4 plus.

Specifications of Micromax Selfie 2:

Micromax selfie 2 is powered by 1.3GHz MediaTek MT6737 processor, 3GB Ram and runs on Android Nougat out of the box. As usually, Micromax is highlighting its Multi-window support, improved doze mode, reply from notification panel and other nougat features. It also comes with 32GB internal storage which can be further expanded with Micro SD card.

Talking about the design, it features a metal built with a front facing home button. But surprisingly,  the fingerprint scanner is residing on the back, beneath the rear camera module. Besides 1 year warranty, There is also a 100-day replacement policy listed on the company website. According to this policy, Micromax promises to replace the damaged smartphone with an equivalent unit; valid up to 100 days from the purchase date.

Coming to cameras, it features a 13-megapixel (f/2.0) rear camera with LED flash. As previously said, selfie camera features an 8-megapixel, wide angle Sony315 sensor with f/2.0 aperture & LED flash. It can also capture real time bokeh effects enhanced by software algorithms. Lastly, this whole package runs on 3000mAh battery.

Can Selfie 2 compete with Redmi 4 and Moto E4 plus?

Recent Q2 results derive that Redmi 4 is the second most selling smartphones after Redmi Note 4. Moto E4 plus which sold about 4 lakh units on its launch day is also getting ready to find a spot in top five selling phones of this quarter. While price and availability of Micromax Selfie 2 are not yet known, it looks well balanced on the specifications. If priced somewhere below Rs 8999, this smartphone will be a good option to buy offline.
