Amidst of talks of a split between Blue Charm and Meizu, we’ve got some new info regarding the latter’s 2018 flagship. It has been talked about in Chinese circles that Blue Charm will split as a new mblu brand and cater to the affordable market. Whereas Meizu will continue with Exynos chips and come up with high-end stuff.
Meizu founder and CEO Jack Wong revealed yesterday that upcoming Meizu flagships will be named Meizu 15 and 15 Plus. Well, traditionally, Meizu has its premium smartphones in Pro, MX, and M series. However, 2018 marks the 15th anniversary of the Chinese brand. So, this is pretty much official coming out from the horse’ mouth itself. Wong also showed off the box of the 15 Plus to assure us its a done deal.
Its a pity, the packaging doesn’t give much away in terms of specs. As to when the new flagship will break cover in 2018, we think it might be in early 2018. Most likely is a February or a March launch, hopefully with Qualcomm processors.
Meanwhile, mblu is expected to split from Meizu by December as a separate website of mblu was recently found online. The sub-brand is also expected to come up with a bezel-less phone to debut after its split.
Well, we hope Meizu has something good up its sleeve, since it is quite late for the bezel-less show.
