ZTE, one of the top five largest smartphone manufacturers in its home market, announced a new phone in its range of Smart Fresh series in China; the Small Fresh 5. The most notable feature of the handset is the range of color variants that it comes in, that is Dark Night Gray, Elegant Gold, Glacier Blue, and Green; with the (rapidly growing) dual camera setup housed at the top side of the back panel, with a flash in between the two cameras.

The handset is driven by the prominent mid-tier Snapdragon 425 processor operating at 1.4GHz, with a quad-core CPU and 500MHz Adreno 308 GPU . It has a 5” IPS display unit with 720 x 1280 pixel resolution. One wouldn’t see any buttons on the front panel, while the back panel has a fingerprint scanner below the camera setup.

The phone uses Android 7.1 Nougat as its OS, having the company’s in house MiFavor UI v4.2 on top of it. The phone comes with a 2500mAh non removable battery; letting the buyer to chose between 3GB RAM/16GB internal storage or 4GB RAM/32GB internal storage configurations. Though using a microSD card, the storage can be expanded to 128 GB in both the versions.

The dual camera setup consists of a 13-megapixel primary camera along with a 2-megapixel secondary camera to capture depth information and create bokeh effects. This lets you adjust aperture from f/1.0 to f/8.0. There is a 5megapixel camera on the front to capture selfies and record videos.

Unlike the predecessor, this entrant doesn’t have a complete metal design, instead the company has used anodized texture paint and custom metal spraying process to achieve a metal texture.  To be an owner of Small Fresh 5, one would have to pay 999 yuan (146USD / 9430INR approx.) for the 3GB/16GB version and 1399 yuan (204USD / 13210INR approx.) for the 4GB/32GB version.
