Meizu’s flagship for the year, is barely 24 hours from its launch but news regarding its details are still leaking. One of the earliest mysteries of these handsets was in regard to which chipset would be powering them. Initially, MediaTek had confirmed that the Pro7 would be the debut launch of their Helio X30 line of chipsets. But later a rumour surfaced claiming that the larger Meizu Pro7 Plus would be getting a Samsung Exynos chipset at its heart.
To clarify on point MediaTek from their official handle on Weibo posted that Meizu handsets will be launching on 26 July equipped with the Helio P25 and X30 chipsets. Since we are not aware of any other product launches on that day by Meizu we have to assume that this is with reference to the Meizu Pro7 and the Pro7 Plus respectively.
This makes the latest MediaTek processor a little less accessible vis-à-vis the earlier impressions that it would come in cheaper flagship handsets. Both the Meizu Pro7 and the Pro7 Plus differ in key aspect areas now, chipset, amount of RAM and internal storage, primary display size et al.
MediaTek has been having a rough time in the recent months so this might be the shot in the arm they are looking for.
