Maze’s latest smartphone, the Maze Alpha X, went on a pre sale this week for only $209.99 (Rs. 13,561.87). Just like any other newcomers in the business, the company’s newest offering is rather an improvement from the previous Maze Alpha handset than being a result of a fanciness of R&D team. Nonetheless, the Alpha X tries to impress prospective buyers by joining the bandwagon set by known brands while also keeping the price tag low as possible.
To start with, the phone sports a large 5.99″ Full HD+ LCD display (supplied by LG), the same display panel Xiaomi used with its Mi Mix 2. At first look, the Alpha X looks similar to its predecessor, but if you put both smartphones side by side, only then you realize the differences. While both has the same height, the Alpha X is slightly narrower and taller in comparison to its predecessor. Thanks to the adaption of 18:9 aspect ratio. The bottom chin was also sliced down a little bit, adding to the sleekness of the device.
Inside, the Maze Alpha X is powered by an octa-core Mediatek Helio P25 chipset (based on 16 nm process) paired up with 6GB of RAM. Surprisingly, the camera resolution depends on what variant you will get. The Alpha X variant with 64GB of internal storage has 13-megapixel Sony IMX258 sensor, whilst the 128GB model will have a superior 16-megapixel OmniVision OV16880 shooter. The 3900 mAh of battery on both variant is also enough to get you through the day.
The Alpha X is made out of metal and glass, inheriting the premium feels from the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 and Honor 9. The front is protected by Gorilla Glass 5 while the backside is on Gorilla Glass 4. The frame is made of ion-plated zinc alloy. The Maze Alpha X will come in three color choices: black, blue and silver.
