Since the death of the popular CyanogenMod, LineageOS has taken the mantle right where it left off. It has been a godsend for stable custom ROM users since then. Moreover, the heritage of CyanogenMod has been continued in spirit with LineagOS as it embodies the same features and underlying principles.
Also, LineageOS, when starting afresh had quite a bit of work to catch up to. And the dedicated developers behind it have done an excellent job. The custom ROM has been one of the most downloaded ROMs with active installs preserving its lineage. Now, the popular custom ROM is set to add to its already big list of supported devices.
Notably, joining the roster this time is the flagship killer OnePlus 5 codenamed cheeseburger. The OnePlus 5 did have unofficial builds but now there is official support. Other devices to get the support are the Redmi Note 4 called mido in the custom ROM realm. Apart from these the European LG G6 (h870) and the US unlocked LG G6 (us997) and the Sony Xperia L (taoshan) can now enjoy LineageOS.
LineageOS project kick started at the end of December 2016 after the shutdown of CyanogenMod. It was then that the ROM got its new logo. In March the ROM surpassed 1 million active installs. After just three months the heavily used ROM also showed the OnePlus One (bacon) was the most used with LineageOS. Currently, we are waiting for LineageOS 15 to drop with Android Oreo but there is no word from the devs on when we can expect it.
