LG had unveiled its Q6 range of handsets in a BarbeQ event held in Poland last month. The premium mid-range handsets brought the latest 18:9 “FullVision” experience to a new audience at a cheaper price point. Now, it has been spotted that the company will launch the handset in India as an Amazon exclusive.
Centred around Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 435 SoC coupled with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal memory. Storage can be expanded via a dedicated microSD card slot. The deal maker though is the 5.5-inch full-HD (1080 x2160) “FullVision” Display that the device ships with. This will make it the only smartphone in its price-range /segment to come with the new “tall” aspect ratio display which allows for a smaller handset for single-handed use. LG has provisioned the Q6 with a 13-megapixel rear shooter and a 5-megapixel shooter up front with a 100° wide-angle lens for selfies. Powering all this hardware is a 3000mAh battery unit.
The version coming to India on the 10th would be a dual-SIM with support for 4G LTE bands, Wi-Fi 802.11 up to standard n, Bluetooth v4.2, NFC and GPS. For charging and hardware interfacing the smartphone features a USB Type-C connector and a 3.5mm audio jack. Out of the box, the smartphone is running Android v.7.1.1, Nougat but you do not get a fingerprint scanner, in its place you get a face unlock system and LG’s KnockCode feature.
Currently, there is no detailing on the pricing of the device, just that it would be available from the 10th on Amazon India in Astro Black, Terra Gold and Ice Platinum colour options. This will make India the second country in which the LG Q6 will be available apart from South Korea. LG has not announced if it would launch the other handsets from the Q range in India, yet.
