We had seen marketing material for the LG Q6 teasing an August 10th Launch earlier in the week. Today the company launched the handset for an asking price of Rs 14,990 (~$235) exclusively pm Amazon India.
The LG Q6 is the first relatively budget oriented handset in the world to come with an 18:9 aspect ratio display, something that the company has trademarked as “FullVision”. Featuring a 5.5-inch IPS LCD panel with a resolution of 1080 x2160 pixels allowing it to house such a tall display in a relatively compact chassis. Just like the more expensive LG G6, the display comes with curved edges.
The Indian variant of the LG Q6 features dual nano-SIM support with a dedicated microSD card slot for additional storage requirements. Currently, this is the only smartphone being launched by the company here and the LG Q6+ and Q6α are not being released. Interested customers will be greeted with a bevvy of discounts and cashbacks alongside with exchange offers. Amazon customers can avail 15 percent cashback if they use Amazon Pay, SBI card holders (Credit and Debit) can get 15 percent cashback if they purchase via the Amazon application or a 10 percent cashback while buying the smartphone from the website. Customers can trade in their old smartphone for a maximum discount of up to Rs 13,300 on the handset.
The LG Q6 comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 SoC coupled with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of onboard memory. Out of the box, it is running a skinned version of Android v.7.1.1, Nougat. On the camera front, it features a 13-megapixel primary camera at the rear and a 5-megapixel shooter up front for selfies with a 100° wide angle lens. Powering all this hardware is a 3000mAh battery unit which is charged via the USB Type-C connector.
For connectivity, the LG Q6 comes with dual-SIM, dual-standby functionality with support for up to 4G (VoLTE) bands, Wi-Fi 802.11 up to standard n, Bluetooth v.4.2 and NFC. The smartphone befitting of its price segment comes with a 3.5mm audio-jack. Although the Q6 does not feature a fingerprint scanner, it does come with LG’s proprietary KnockCode function and facial recognition technology. You can pre-order the phone from Amazon in Black and Platinum colours.
