Lenovo has been aggressively pursuing growth in the Indian smartphone market with a constant slew of smartphone releases. Today they took another step in that direcetion with the alleged leak of the Lenovo Vibe B by a Mumbai based retailer on their facebook page. The Vibe B is a budget handset featuring 4G LTE support (not VoLTE, just LTE) priced at ~₹5,799.
The Lenovo Vibe is a strictly budget device and its specifications show that, the device is packing a MediaTek MT6735M quad-core coupled with one GB of RAM and 8 GB of internal storage with support for expansion via microSD (up-to 32 GB). The display is a 4.5-inch FWVGA (480 x854) resolution affair, the rear camera is a 5-megapixel package with a LED flash and a 2-megapixel camera is present in the front for snapping selfies. All this hardware is backed by a removable 2000mAh battery and is running on Android v6.0, Marshmallow. The device is constructed of tough PVC and will come in matte black and white colour options.
None of the above are the real stars of the show though, that being reserved for the integration of 4G LTE support at this price point apart from the usual host of connectivity options such as 3G, GPRS / EDGE. The device also features a headphone jack and FM radio chip. With specs such as these the handset does not have much competition competing with lesser known Chinese devices on the market which are based on older hardware and do not have the brand recall of Lenovo. This puts the smartphone in a commanding position with the only real competition being offered by their own handsets, a few offerings from Xiaomi and Coolpad.
