Samsung being the global smartphone giant that it is, is not as reputed in OS updates. The sheer amount of devices that the Korean brand launches makes it hard for the company to support them. Also, those smartphones that do end up being on the list sometimes get delayed for months. Now that Android Oreo is here, the question that’s nagging many Samsung customers yet again comes to the fore.
Many OEMs have already kickstarted beta tests of Oreo with their flagships including Samsung. The Galaxy S8/S8+ are in for a third Oreo beta phase as we speak. Unfortunately the same can’t be said for other Samsung phones so early. However, there is still a set of 2017 Galaxy devices destined to get the Oreo treatment sooner or later.
Below we have a leaked image from a reputed Weibo leakster that essentially gives us a roadmap for Oreo on Galaxy devices. The list might upset some Samsung customers as the company has axed quite a few devices that launched in 2016. One objectionable omission from the list is the J3 (2017). Since this isn’t an official roadmap we’d rather take this roadmap with a pinch of salt even though most of the info seems genuine.
