Today, according to posts on the One Plus Reddit page the company has released an update that fixes the 911 dialing bug. The issue had blown up earlier this week on Reddit where OnePlus 5 users claimed their handsets rebooted when trying to dial 911. This was shown in action by a user as well.
Although not the only Android phone that exhibited the issue, OnePlus surely acted with great alacrity to isolate the issue. As stated earlier, the company has started to seed an OTA (over the air) update that should remedy the problem.
The company has issued the following advisory to go along,
We have begun rolling out the software update. Timing may vary by region. We encourage OnePlus 5 users to download the update. If users haven’t received a notification, check for the update by going to Settings > System Updates.
As stated, the seeding has just started so there might be a requirement for you to poke around the settings to get it going.
The arrival of this fix also shows that OnePlus will be more careful in dealing with criticism of their devices instead of issuing contradictory statements as was the case with the “Jelly” scroll effect.
