The October security patch for the Galaxy Note 5 is long overdue for India and China. But, it seems that it is now on its way. Other regions have already reported getting the update for the two-year-old phablet. Following models of the Galaxy Note 5 in China and India are reported to have got the update:

SM-N9208, SM-N920C and SM-N920G

The latest maintenance patch from Samsung brings up the patch to October and plugs a total of 215 vulnerabilities in the Android OS. A handful of bugs in Samsung’s skin have also been patched. You should check the patch level when the update arrives on your device. You can also check it out later in the “About” section.

The update will most likely also include the Blueborne fix which was cause for the late arrival of security patches in the last month. The update is now live and will be on route for a phased rollout. It is to be noted that the patch is for the single SIM variant and not the dual SIM variant.

It is advisable to update to this latest patch as soon as possible. Although, before doing that, take a backup, charge your device at least 50% and then hit the update button.
