So, now we’ve got over the dual camera euphoria, what’s next? Quad cameras, of course. At least that is what Huawei seems to believe. A new upcoming phone called Maimang 6 in homeland China was snapped up by TENAA 3 days ago which means that it is going public soon.
The Maimang 6 has an 18:9 aspect ratio that can easily be mistaken with the Huawei Mate 10 Pro which also has the same aspect ratio. The Maimang 6 lies in the Maimang family whose latest member is the Maimang 5. The same device sold outside China under the Huawei G9 Plus label. This means that the Maimang 6 will be the Huawei G10 Plus when it makes a trip outside China.
Another development with the Maimang 6 is that Huawei has issued an official teaser for the handset. The teaser is also an invite for the September 22 launch event of the phone. This makes the Maimang 6 the first Huawei phone with the 18:9 aspect ratio. But it will easily be eclipsed by the Huawei Mate 10 launching on October 16.
Talk around Chinese water coolers is that the Maimag 6 will sport a 5.99-inch 1,080×2,160 display. A 16 MP + 2 MP dual rear camera setup, and 13 MP + 2 MP front-facing snappers. That’s four camera lenses for you. The phone should ideally come equipped with 4 GB RAM and 64 GB storage as well as a 3,240 mAh juice pack.
