The Huawei P10 was unveiled at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The Huawei P10 has a slim metal body with a matte “sandblast” finish and rounded edges. As with most other smartphones, the P10 comes in two different sizes. Huawei P10 and the P10+, Huawei P10+ comes with a larger display.

The fingerprint scanner and home button have been moved from the rear of the phone to the front like the Oneplus 3, Moto G5 and the Samsung Galaxy S7 among many others. The design of the fingerprint sensor is identical to the newly-launched Moto G5 & Moto G5 Plus which also have a capsule-shaped fingerprint sensor.

Huawei has teamed up with the Pantone Color Institute to release the phone in a range of on-trend colours designed to “embody the personalities of the contemporary consumer”. These colours include Pantone Greenery, Dazzling Blue, Ceramic White, Dazzling Gold, Prestige Gold, Graphite Black, Rose Gold and Mystic Silver.

P10 features an upgraded Leica dual camera with a 12MP colour sensor and 20MP monochrome sensor, designed to capture detailed facial features. The P10 also features a Leica selfie camera, which Huawei claims brings “professional studio-like effects to enhance your portrait photography”. The Huawei’s latest also boasts a wide range of tools for enhancing your photos and selfies, such as re-lighting effects and 3D facial detection technology.

Huawei P10 features a 5.5-inch screen and 4GB/64GB and 6GB/128GB configurations with a 3,100mAh battery. The P10+ boasts 6GB/128GB and 8GB/256GB options with a 3,650mAh battery. The phone(s) will arrive with Google Android Nougat but it will be heavily skinned with Huawei’s own Emotion User Interface. They also come with super-fast charging, coming with Huawei’s proprietary ‘SuperCharge’ technology.

The Huawei P10 and P10+ will be available in Europe and China from March, 2017, followed shortly after by Asia, Latin America, South Africa and Russia in April, 2017. The P10 costs €649 unlocked, while the P10+ costs €699 for the 64GB version with 4GB memory and €799 for the 128GB version with 6GB of memory(India specific pricing will be announced later).

Final Thoughts

Huawei P10 is the perfect hardware you would want from a phone with its camera capabilities, colour choices and display sizes. If Huawei manages to back it up with the software as well then this phone can certainly deliver in 2017. Stay tuned for more news from MWC, 2017.
