HTC has already confirmed that the HTC U 11 is going to launch on May 16th, now it seems the company has started to engage the hype machine for the upcoming event by launching a small teaser.

The video mostly revolves around the HTC U 11, a.k.a., codename Oceans’ unique input method of squeezing. This was made possible by making the whole frame touch sensitive and thus capable of taking gesture inputs in the form of, you guessed it, squeezes and flicks. This opens up the possibilities of a lot more granular gesture input when compared to relying on the just the display of the device for user interaction and interfacing.

The HTC U 11 will succeed the earlier launched HTC U Ultra and will bump up the hardware specifications to make it compete against offerings from Samsung. Rumoured to be packing Qualcomm’s latest and greatest Snapdragon 835 octa-core SoC coupled with an Adreno 540 GPU. The device will feature 4 GB of RAM with 64 GB of internal storage. The display would be provided in the form of a 5.5-inch quad-HD (1440 x2560) SuperLCD5 panel according to rumours. On the camera front, the smartphone will pack a 12-megapixel sensor with a f/1.8 aperture, optical image stabilisation, laser auto-focus and dual-LED flash. The sensor up-front would be a 16-megapixel unit. It is speculated that both these sensors would be provided by SONY.

The device will apparently launch with five colour options: Black, White, Blue, Red and Silver. We are yet to receive any specifics regarding the pricing and availability of the phone post the May 16th launch.
