The shocking immediate resignation of HMD Global’s CEO Arto Nummela yesterday left the company hanging. This leads the company’s current President Florian Seiche to take over Nummela’s position as CEO. However, despite of Nummela’s resignation, the company will recommence it’s operation and is expected to launch their first flagship smartphone in China today.

The tip came from a member of Baidu community who posted a screenshot of what seems like the Nokia 8 on company’s official Chinese website. The screenshot did include the official name of the device, the Nokia 8, bearing 20/7 on itself indicating it’s purported launch today, July 20.

Looking closely at the screenshot, the render shows very similar angles to what Evan Blass posted on Twitter couple of days ago. The Nokia 8 which Blass posted has a well-pronounced model name at the back (TA-1012). We have seen TA-1012 appearing on Geekbench a couple of times before and we are all aware that this particular model have been spotted to house Snapdragon 835 along with either 4GB or 6GB of RAM.

Nokia 8 Specs:

  • 5.3″ QHD OLED display
  • Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 clocked @ 2.25GHz
  • 4GB/6GB/8GB of RAM
  • 64GB/128GB/256GB of ROM
  • 13MP Dual Zeiss-branded rear-facing camera
  • 13MP front-facing camera
  • Iris Scanner
  • Fingerprint Sensor
