Google Allo is a social messaging app from search giant Google. When the app was launched initially back in 2016, it got decent success because of it’s clean and simple UI. One of the main reason of it getting the huge user base was Google Assistant being integrated which is company’s answer to Siri and other real time based personal assistants out there. It was being so much downloaded as it became on of the top most downloaded app within few weeks of launch.

The Google Allo app is currently available to download on Android and iOS platforms. Now the company is planning to introduce it on desktop computers as well. The Search giant has shared a screenshot of the desktop app of Google Allo that is coming soon to us.

The news comes from company’s VP at communications projects Mr. Nick Fox who has announced it using his official Twitter account. His tweet says, ” Still in early development, but coming to a desktop near you… #GoogleAllo #SneakPeek

The app was a huge hit but within few months, it lost it’s charm. Currently it’s not even in top 10 apps of Google Play. It lost it’s charm because of many reasons. One of the reasons include a basic app with not much features to try out. Unavailability of the app or webpage on different platforms was also a reason for users to ditch. And one of the most compelling reason of it no more being on top is that Google Assistant, the USP of Allo was already available to any smartphones running Android Lollipop and above through a hack.

So yes, Google Allo is late to the party. It would be difficult to bring back all the previous user base. But the company is trying hard & this could bring something for it. A desktop client for every app related to social messaging is very necessary. Social messaging apps like WhatsApp, Skype, Telegram have already gained the user base because of their early release of features. Google needs to come up with something different to attract new users.
