The Gionee A1 sports a MediaTek Helio P10 SoC coupled with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage that is further expandable via microSD card (up-to 256 GB). It has 13-megapixel rear camera based on SONY’s IMX258 sensor with an f/2.0 aperture, PDAF support and features a dual-LED flash.

The real draw though is the fixed focus 16-megapixel selfie snapper up-front featuring an f/2.0 aperture and a selfie-flash which the company claims that it has customised to “spread light more evenly and softly”. The smartphone also comes with various facial enhancement algorithms to apply custom beauty settings. Another feature being touted is the included bokeh-selfie mode.

To round it out, the A1 has a 5.5-inch full-HD AMOLED display and is running a custom skinned flavour of Android v.7.0, Nougat called Amigo. Connectivity and charging of its ample 4010mAh power-pack are over a micro-USB connector which features support for the company’s new 18W ‘ultrafast charging’ mode that can completely top up the battery in two hours.
