Recently, the French account of SONY Xperia let slip that the SONY Xperia XZ Premium, the Xperia XA1 and the Xperia XA1 Ultra would be getting bespoke dual-SIM variants. The difference between these and the regular dual variant devices is that a user does not have to choose between extra storage or having a second SIM in the device.

From the above image in the tweet, we can see that every bespoke “dual” device will feature a dedicated memory slot next to the SIM tray. This allows a user to populate both the SIM slots while still having the capability to augment their storage via the microSD card, something that is not very common in most of the dual-SIM devices of these days where a user has a hybrid-SIM tray which either allows them to have two network cards or a network card alongside a microSD card.

This handset variant is most likely not to launch in markets like the US and EU but will undoubtedly be popular in countries like India and South-East Asia. Currently, we have no idea when SONY plans to officially launch these devices into the market but looking at the leaks it is most likely to be sooner rather than later. This is also not the first time that the Japanese giant has offered such a variant with notable Xperia devices like the Z5, X Performance and XA having this feature in certain markets.
