Just a day ahead of Motorola’s New York event we have our first glimpse of the MOTO Z2 Force. It was widely believed that the company would be fleshing out its MOTO Z2 range of handsets at the event by launching one or more of the anticipated flagships and these new photographs only fuel the fire.
Initially posted on the Chinese social media site, Baidu, the images show the product in great detail. Confirming that the Z2 Force will not differ a lot at least visually from the earlier released MOTO Z2 Play, the major differentiating factor is in the dual-cameras at the rear.
If you flip the MOTO Z2 Force and look at the front fascia, it is visually very similar to the MOTO Z2 Play with the only difference being in the placement of the selfie camera and forward firing flash. The MOTO logo is also moved to the lower bezel instead of being present below the earpiece. Apart from this the 5.5-inch AMOLED display dominates the front with ample side and top-bottom bezels, finally just like in all other recently released MOTO device, the smartphone features a lozenge shaped home button /fingerprint scanner. This home button is also capable of one-hand function of the smartphone without you requiring the software based UI thanks to MOTO Actions.
Flipping the smartphone over reveals a layout very similar to the MOTO Z2 Play just that the single camera of the latter has been replaced with a dual-camera system. Apart from a MOTO batwing logo, the 16-pin modular connector at the base and the antenna alround the frame of the handset there is nothing of note.
Finally, the side profile shot is provided to showcase the slimness of the handset. At the expense of the internal battery the MOTO Z2 Force is further slimmed down by ~1mm over its predecessor.
Apart from this, it has been reported that the MOTO Z2 Force comes packing a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC coupled with up to 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal memory depending on your region and model. The internal memory can be augmented with a dedicated micro-SD card slot. Apart from this the 5.5-inch QHD (1440 x2560) AMOLED panel will be clad with a layer of Motorola’s proprietary ShatterShield technology for improved shatter protection in case you drop the smartphone. The smartphone will likely come with Android v.7.1.1, Nougat out of the box with a couple MOTO enhancements thrown in.
