Essential Smartphone will start shipping soon

Teased forever and officially announced this May, the much anticipated Essential Phone is eagerly awaited by a lot in the Android community. During the announcement and reveal, Andy Rubin, the co-Founder of Android Inc. before it was taken up by Google and now head of Essential Products had stated that the phone would ship to early buyers by late June.

Yesterday, Mr Rubin sent out a letter on the topic himself, addressing the registered customers that they should be getting the smartphone in a few weeks time.

Essential Phone Andy Rubin letter

Extrapolating from this letter and its tone we can expect the Essential Phone to arrive by about August.
The Essential Phone was announced with a price-tag of $699 (~Rs 45,000) and features a lot of phone for that price-point. Designed around a 5.7-inch bezel-less display with a resolution of 1312 x2560 pixels the phone comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC at its heart coupled with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The smartphone also has a proprietary two-pin attachment system for modularity purposes at the rear next to dual camera module. Alongside the phone, a 360° camera module was announced with this interface. Selfie duties are handled by an 8-megapixel snapper up front which juts into the display area and houses a LED notification light in the same space.

Apart from being available unlocked the company has tied up exclusively with Sprint in the US and Telus in Canada but there is no clarity when they will start offering the phone. Follow us on our social media to keep up to date with the latest in the world of Android.
