Today, in a leak by the noted tipster, Evan Blass the entire upcoming Motorola line-up for the year was detailed on a single presentation slide. Thought to be part of the same presentation that showed us the upcoming MOTO X4 the slide (shown below) details the entire line-up of smartphones that the company plans to launch this year.
Motorola even after being taken over by Lenovo has managed to retain its product line-up and identity. With the above image, we can see that this has not changed and in fact, the company is confident in reviving older product lines that had been shuttered earlier. This is especially evident of the MOTO X which used to be their premier smartphone till it was replaced by the MOTO Z series of modular handsets which were launched after the company got taken over.
The roadmap shows us that the upcoming Z series smartphones of 2017 will continue with the Play and Force model distinctions. The MOTO Z Play will have a 5.5-inch full-HD (1080 x1920) display panel. The Z Force will feature a ShatterShield display and support for up to 1Gb LTE speeds. Both devices will continue the MOTO MOD’s concept and will be backward compatible with all the accessories launched under that brand till now.
The newly revived MOTO X (2017) now known as the MOTO X4 will come with a 5.2-inch full-HD display clad under a 3D glass layer and a SmartCam feature is highlighted which might refer to the dual camera package at the back of the device. Below the MOTO X is the MOTO G line but instead of showing the MOTO G5 series the presentation has something called the gS and gS+. The gS has been shown as having a 5.2-inch full-HD display and a full metal chassis. The MOTO gS+ will come with a slightly larger 5.5-inch full-HD display, dual rear cameras and most likely a metal chassis. Since the MOTO G series was the first launches for Motorola this year, these are most likely to be a refresh or next-generation models.
Below the MOTO gS line on the presentation is the MOTO E series, the erstwhile budget end of Motorola’s lineup. The latest refresh will all be running on MediaTek processors with the MOTO E having a 5-inch HD (720 x1280) display with a 2.5-D curved glass on top. The device will also include a fingerprint scanner. The MOTO E Plus will come with the same processor with a 5.5-inch HD display, the fingerprint scanner, and a giant 5000mAh battery.
The newest addition to the company’s lineup are the MOTO C devices. These smartphones will come in even cheaper than the MOTO E, bearing the same SoC solution as the MOTO E but with a few downgrades. Due to the MT6737 SoC supporting 4G LTE, the devices will have VoLTE capability with the MOTO C coming with a 5-inch panel with a display resolution of 480 x854. The MOTO C will bump it to a 5-inch HD display coupled with a 4000mAh battery.
We shall be covering all the devices as more information gets through, till then follow us on our social media to keep up to date with the latest in the world of Android.
