MIUI is the custom ROM found on Xiaomi devices and the latest iteration, MIUI 9 was debuted just about a week ago. That said, the stable version of the software has not reached any device yet with the Beta version available to select devices. Interestingly, MIUI is now available for OnePlus’ 2016 flagship, the OnePlus 3T.
An unknown developer from China has released a patch which makes it possible for the Xiaomi software to run on the OnePlus device. MIUI is a heavily skinned version of Android with it’s own set of tweaks and customisation. This is in contrary with Oxygen OS which a very light skin on top of Android, resembling a close to stock Android experience.
There are a few screenshots available to prove that this has indeed happened. The MIUI 9 version can be noted as 7.7.31 Developer ROM and the serial number of the 3T(A3010) is also listed in the “About Phone” page.
Even though the OnePlus 3T is powered by the Snapdragon 821 SoC, performance may be laggy due to the fact that MIUI 9 is still in beta. The developer says that the MIUI 9 bootloader can boot the 3T without any issues but a couple of bugs still remain to be fixed in the patch ROM. If you are interested to install MIUI 9 on your OnePlus 3T, the Patch ROM will be released on Sunday. However, it is important to keep in mind that this is not official.
