Asus has announced a new smartphone in the Zenfone series dubbed the Zenfone V. It has been launched in the U.S as a Verizon exclusive and is also available in offline stores. The smartphone focuses in the camera department and costs $384 without contract.
The Zenfone V sports a 5.2-inch Full HD display with AMOLED technology with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 for protection. It is powered by the Snapdragon 820 SoC which is a quad core SoC clocked in at 2.15GHz. It is interesting to see that Asus has gone with last years flagship processor instead of a mid-range chipset. This is coupled with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of on-board storage which can be expanded up to 256GB via a micro SD card.
The Asus Zenfone V mainly focuses on cameras. The smartphone features a 23MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture. The Zenfone V comes with Asus PixelMaster Camera technology that includes additional modes such as HDR, low light, Beautification, Depth of Field and more. The camera also includes Phase Detection Auto Focus and a dual-tone LED Flash. This is backed up by an 8MP selfie shooter with an 88-degree wide angled lens.
The Asus Zenfone V runs on Android 7.0 Nougat with the company’s custom ZenUI 3.0 on top. It is fuelled by a 3,000mAh battery with support for BoostMaster Fast charging that claims to charge the device upto 60% in 37 mins.
