The ASUS Zenfone series has been very popular and the company has launched various smartphones with various different specialities under this line. However, one downside has always been the slow updates. For instance, the Zenfone 3 Zoom which was launched just a couple of months back came with Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
There is no denying the fact that ZenUI is a heavily skinned version of Android and hence it takes a little longer to apply the skin on top of stock Android. Samsung has faced similar issues too.
Now, ASUS has said that the entire Zenfone 3 and Zenfone 4 line will get the Android O update. However, the company isn’t magically going to push them immediately and ASUS has set a deadline of second half of 2018. Well, thats the time Android P will become official and this is a bit disappointing.
However, there is something to cheer for. The Zenfone 4 series will debut with ZenUI 4.0 and the latest software from ASUS will consist of less bloatware. The pre-installed apps will be reduced significantly and ZenUI 4.0 will include just 13 of them. It is worthy to note that ZenUI 3.5 includes 35 pre-installed apps. This is a step in the right direction. Also, ZenUI 4.0 will later be available for the Zenfone 3 series as well.
