Android 7.1.2

Google has always been a software company and hasn’t concentrated too much on hardware. Google’s software updates have remained quite stable and bug free. However, the latest Android 7.1.2 Nougat update breaks the fingerprint scanner for many Pixel and Nexus users.

At present we do not know exactly as to how many devices are affected. We are pretty sure that it wont be long until Google fixes this issue. Therefore if you own a Pixel or Nexus device, refrain from updating now.

Good news is that many Pixel and Nexus users have complained in the user community forum that their fingerprint scanners are no longer working after the update. So, Google is well aware of the issue.

Even after deleting all fingerprints and doing a hard reset, the fingerprint scanners on the affected Pixel and Nexus devices do not seem to work. There are no workarounds at the moment to make the scanner work.

At the moment only the Pixel, Pixel XL, Nexus 5X and the Nexus 6P are affected. The cause for the problem has not been discovered and Google has not released any official statement as of yet.
